Volksbank am Württemberg cooperative bank, Fellbach

Volksbank am Württemberg, Fellbach

Simple design for versatile use

The design concept by Stuttgart-based architectural practice ISIN+CO interprets the branch as a ‘village’ – a spatial arrangement comprising public and semi-public zones. A central, open-plan marketplace serves as a hub for interaction, whilst distinct work and consultation areas provide privacy and a quiet retreat. This zoning is clearly defined by high-quality, transparent interior fittings.

A customer counter is positioned in the center. To the left and right, in the background, the T55 partition wall system is visible. The elements featuring double-pane glazing belong to the premium class.
T55, the premium-class partition wall system, combines transparency with high sound insulation values.
A view of the glass partition wall on the left side of the image. Designed as a continuous glazing system without visible seals, it presents a homogeneous glass surface when viewed from the side. Workstations are located on the right side.
The flush-mounted glazing completely dispenses with vertical profiles and is perfectly suited for high-end workspaces.

The frameless, all-glass T50 LOFT partition offers full transparency combined with acoustic separation, extending the T50 system with the aesthetics of Bauhaus-style sash windows.

The cooperative principle as a guiding design concept

Volksbank cooperative bank motto – “What one person cannot achieve alone, many can” – forms the conceptual basis for a spatial interpretation of community, transparency and reliability. The aim was to develop a contemporary working and advisory environment that combines traditional values with modern architecture and technical precision.

Transparency through glass architecture

A defining feature is the use of delicate glass partition systems in a loft-style design, which combine openness and visual transparency with functional separation. Spanning three floors, the T50 all-glass systems in a loft design with black glazing bars and T50 elements with tubular frame doors were installed. In addition, the T55 double-glazed all-glass wall in RAL 9011 was used, which emphasises the architectural rigour. The integration of T10 solid-wall panels with fabric-covered acoustic surfaces ensures balanced room acoustics and enhances the quality of the environment.

Materials and Colour Scheme: Sustainable and Identity-Defining

The choice of materials and colours follows a sustainable approach: natural, durable materials emphasise a down-to-earth feel, whilst warm tones create a contrast with cool shades of grey. Carefully placed accents inspired by the brand colours create a sense of identity, and varied surfaces lend the interior depth and a tactile quality.

Sustainable refurbishment with a focus on the existing structure

During the comprehensive refurbishment, particular emphasis was placed on conserving resources and reusing existing building fabric. The result is a high-quality, sustainable interior fit-out that combines architectural clarity with functional flexibility and a meticulously crafted range of details.

Award-winning design

The project has been awarded the ‘GERMAN DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2026’.
