During the renovation of the office floor for RCKT, the character of the original exposed concrete architecture was highlighted.
All columns and beams were sanded by hand and sealed with a clear finish. The interplay between the rough surfaces of the concrete structural elements and the exposed concrete floor creates a pleasing contrast with the delicate glass partitions by Goldbach Kirchner and the warm texture of the felt ceilings. The graphic architecture is enhanced by graphics designed by the tenant themselves in the form of lettering on the glass partition system.
The choice of materials creates a calm working environment. The installation of a white perforated acoustic ceiling compensates for the hard surfaces of the walls and the sanded screed floor in the meeting room.
Half of the floor area, which was existing screed, was stripped of layers of adhesive and filler, sanded, and treated with a transparent sealant. In the other half of the area, a linoleum flooring from the Concrete series was installed. Area rugs provide color accents and acoustic improvement.
The color scheme was consistently reduced to a dark finish on the core and the facade parapet, with white ceilings and walls. This color scheme is continued in the color palette of the kitchens, restroom areas, and building services elements. Individual color accents were used sparingly through the tenant-organized furnishings. However, the furnishings remain largely faithful to the black-and-white concept.
Instead of individual vanities, an extra-long vanity was chosen. High-quality fixtures and tiles contribute to a consistently high standard of finish. The arrangement of open-plan offices and glass partitions ensures that even the areas located in the core are flooded with light. The structural framework and the ribbon windows allow for a highly flexible floor plan design.
