A modern open-plan office has been created in Chemnitz for envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG, combining functionality and aesthetics in an innovative way. The largely open-plan layout creates a sense of openness and fosters a welcoming, communicative working atmosphere.
A key design feature is the functional meeting rooms, which have been integrated into the open-plan space as room-within-a-room solutions. These freestanding units are based on the 100 mm partition systems and combine solid T10 partitions with T35 glass partitions. This creates high-quality retreat areas that offer both visual openness and acoustic screening. Thanks to built-in air conditioning, these rooms are also ideal for longer meetings and focused work.
In addition to the functional design, safety was also a key consideration. The connection between the entrance hall and the office area is secured by a fire door with a high fire resistance rating of F90. Despite these stringent safety requirements, the fire wall and door blend seamlessly into the overall architectural design, ensuring that both safety and aesthetic quality are achieved without compromise.
The project was planned and implemented in its entirety by the Leipzig-based interior design firm Kasel, with the aim of creating a forward-looking working environment. Open-plan office layouts, functional meeting rooms and inviting lounge areas promote efficiency, communication and well-being in equal measure. Ergonomic design and natural elements – such as vertical greenery – further contribute to an inspiring atmosphere.
In particular, the carefully designed lounge areas and meeting rooms set new standards in combining functionality, comfort and aesthetics, and are exemplary of modern, smart working environments.
