Fall-protection glazing generally refers to structural glass elements designed to protect people from falling from significant heights.
Modern architecture values transparency through the use of glass, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and transparent interior partitions. However, architects and contractors must ensure that no one falls through the glazing, suffers serious injury from impact, or — worse still — that passersby are struck by falling debris.
In the event of a person or object striking floor-to-ceiling partition glazing, the structural integrity of the component must be maintained. Furthermore, the component must not be penetrated, and no one must be seriously injured by falling fragments. The types of glass used must offer sufficient resistance to these impacts.
Our T46 partition wall systems with single-pane glazing and T35 systems with double-pane glazing have been tested and comply with the requirements of DIN 18008 – Part 4 (formerly TRAV).
